Spring & fall yard cleanup · Ottawa

Yard cleanup in Ottawa, spring and fall, hauled away.

A spring cleanup clears what winter left behind: sand, debris and matted grass in April. The fall cleanup takes the leaves in October. Either way, everything is raked, bagged and taken with us.

Every cleanup includes

A spring cleanup or fall visit resets the whole yard for the season.

A yard cleanup is a full visit, not a quick rake. We clean up the lawn, the beds and the edges, then leave the yard ready for the season ahead.

  • Matted grass raked up (spring)Snow mould and matted patches loosened so new growth can come through.
  • Beds clearedDead stems, fallen branches and old growth cut back and removed.
  • Hard surfaces blown cleanDriveway, walkway and patio cleared before we leave.

  • First or last cut (optional)Add a cut to the same visit so the lawn is finished, not just cleaned.

Cleanup prices

Yard cleanup prices: one flat price per visit.

Priced by lot size, plus HST. A spring cleanup costs the same as a fall cleanup, bags and haul-away included.

Yards with many mature trees can need a second fall visit once the last leaves drop. We will tell you before we book it.

What moves the price

  • Number of mature trees on and around the lot
  • Size and number of garden beds
  • Heavy debris such as fallen branches
  • A yard that missed last year’s cleanup

How it works

Book once, we pick the right week.

Timing matters

When to book a yard cleanup in Ottawa.

Spring cleanup: mid-April to early May

Once the snow has melted and the ground is no longer soft, the lawn needs air and light. Leaving matted grass, sand and leaves in place keeps the soil wet and cold, and that is where snow mould spreads.

Working a lawn while it is still waterlogged damages it, so we wait for the soil to firm up before the spring cleanup. In most years that is the second half of April.

Fall cleanup: late October to November

A thick layer of leaves left over winter smothers the grass and leaves dead patches in spring. Fall leaf removal is timed for when most leaves are down, usually the last week of October or early November.

The fall visit is also the right time for the last cut of the year, a little shorter than summer height, which helps prevent snow mould.

Where the leaves go

Leaves and yard debris are bagged in paper yard-waste bags and taken away. You do not need to leave anything out for city pickup.

Most yards with trees benefit from both. The fall visit protects the lawn over winter; the spring visit wakes it up. Lawns without trees often need only the spring visit.
